Standard One Shellac is a machine-made, heat-processed grade of shellac that stands at the entry-level end of the quality spectrum among commercially available shellac grades. It is manufactured by steam-heating Seedlac and filtering the molten lac using hydraulic presses. The filtered lac is then cooled, rolled into thin sheets, and broken into flakes. Standard One contains the highest allowable level of insoluble matter and a darker color tone compared to other machine-made grades. Its primary value lies in cost-efficiency, making it highly suitable for industrial-scale applications where top-end purity or brightness is not required. It retains shellac?s hallmark properties?excellent film-forming ability, biodegradability, and good adhesion?while remaining budget-friendly.

Economical Grade: Designed for cost-conscious industries where purity and brightness are secondary.
Dark Amber Hue: Offers a deeper natural tone, ideal for darker wood finishes and base coats.
Moderate Purity: With a higher tolerance for insolubles and ash, it provides acceptable performance for general purposes.
Excellent Film-Forming: Despite lower purity, it forms smooth, glossy, and flexible films.
Biodegradable and Safe: A natural resin safe for use in many regulated industries when purity is not critical.
1. Woodworking & Furniture
Used in base coats or underlayers for furniture.
Suitable for rustic or antique finishes due to its dark hue.
2. Industrial Coatings
Acts as a binding agent or filler resin in cost-sensitive formulations like undercoats or primers.
3. Packaging Inks & Adhesives
Used in flexible packaging where food contact is not mandatory.
Can be formulated into adhesives for cardboard or paperboard.
4. Construction Finishes
Used in sealants, wall primers, and economical varnish blends.
5. General Utility Coatings
Suitable for low-spec cosmetic and craft coatings where aesthetics are less critical.
6. Agricultural or Rural Applications
Shellac-based formulations for use in less refined, high-volume agricultural uses such as seed coating or pesticide encapsulation.
