Sitaram Saraf has been exporting Seedlac, Shellac & other lac products from India since 1975. The family run business is into its fourth generation. FOUNDER
Mr. Sushil Kumar Saraf, the founder of the company, started trading in Shellac, straight after college. Having no experience about the trade, he received guidance from his father Shri Sitaram Saraf, an honourable man, doing local Shellac trading from Balarampur, a small town in West Bengal. No sooner, he got fixated upon the idea of exporting Shellac and and very quickly learnt the tricks of the trade. Travelling across the world to promote Shellac at the time when no one dared to, he met customers and also developed a strong bond over the years. As the demand out paced the supply, Mr. Saraf also started manufacturing Lac. The plant located in Khunti, in the state of Jharkhand, India, generated employment for more than 200 people, who would work in shifts to produce about 150 metric tonnes of Seedlac/Shellac per month.
Soon with growing experience and administrative capabilities, Mr. Saraf became the Chairman of the Shellac Export Promotion Council in India, a post he occupied many times during his illustrious career.
Sitaram Saraf, under the leadership of Mr. Saraf, managed to win prestigious awards from the Shellac Export Promotion Council for being the largest exporters of Shellac, a feat it achieved multiple times.
Mr. Saraf left for his heaving abode on November 16, 2020. Presently, the business is being run by Mr. Hemant, son of Mr. Saraf.
